BORDERS MOVES TO LEVEL 1

This week the First Minister has announced that the Borders will move to Level 1 of the Covid-19 protection system, alongside many other areas of mainland Scotland, at 00.01am on Saturday 5 June 2021. This means that up to six people from three households will be able to meet in your home or theirs – and can stay overnight.

Eight people from three households will be able to meet in an indoor public place such as a cafe, pub or restaurant. Outdoors in a garden or a public space up to 12 people from 12 households will be able to meet. You will also not need to physically distance from family or friends in a private home. Travel to level 3 or 4 areas is not permitted unless you have an essential purpose such as going to work or caring for a vulnerable person.

When you go out please remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions such as practicing physical distancing in public places, adhering to the socialising limits and avoiding crowded places.

If you can please take advantage of any good weather and meet others outdoors. If you are visiting loved ones in a private home, remember to wash your hands and keep rooms well ventilated by opening windows or doors to keep yourself and them safe.

FACTS:
• Face coverings in enclosed spaces
• Avoid crowded places
• Clean hands and surfaces regularly
• Two metre distancing; and
• Self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms
