Police in the Scottish Borders, supported by Scottish Borders Council, are hosting three events in order to help the public protect their vans from break-ins.
Specialist advice will be available from ‘Secured by Design’ and ‘Trade Vehicle Locks’, as well as local community and crime prevention officers.
A free motion-sensor alarm is also available for first 20 attendees at each event.
Chief Inspector Stuart Reid, Area Commander for the Scottish Borders, said: “We recognise the disruption and stress to local businesses and tradesmen that this type of theft can cause. Be assured that these crimes are taken seriously and will be fully investigated whenever they occur. However, we’d urge all van owners to come along to one of these events and see first-hand the range of prevention measures available to protect their property.”
The events will be held at –
11th June, 10am – 2pm, Travis Perkins in Kelso
12th June, 10am – 2pm, Graham Plumbers Merchant in Galashiels
13th June, 10am – 2pm, Howdens in Hawick
