Scottish Borders Council is looking for final views on their proposals to close Hobkirk Primary School in Bonchester Bridge and permanently re-zone the catchment area to Denholm Primary School.

A statutory consultation was held in accordance with the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 from 7 March 2019 to 2 May 2019. The feedback received from this has now been incorporated into a consultation report which will be presented at the Council meeting on 29 August 2019 for a decision on implementation of the proposals. In advance of that meeting, an additional consultation period is being held to give people the opportunity to submit any further comments or alternative suggestions. This will run until 19 July 2019.

Councillor Carol Hamilton, SBC’s Executive Member for Children and Young People, said: “We would like to thank everyone for the feedback they have provided so far in relation to these proposals. All the issues raised have been incorporated into the Consultation Report and we are now looking for people to give us any final views or comments that they may have before it is presented to elected members for their decision.”
