A man has been jailed following two incidents of assault and robbery in Hawick earlier this year.

Martin Charlotte
The first incident happened in the Meadows area of Hawick when a taxi driver was robbed. The second involved a 71-year-old woman who was pushed to the ground and had her handbag stolen within a communal stairwell on High Street, Hawick. Both incidents resulted in minor injury.
Speaking following the sentencing, Detective Constable Andrew Hope, of the Galashiels CID said: “This is a positive result for local policing, these incidents were terrifying for those involved and we are thankful neither suffered serious injury. charlotte’s sentence today sends a clear message to those acting in such a manner that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated in the Scottish Borders.”
