Officers are appealing for information following a serious crash involving a van and a pedestrian in Hawick.
Around 6.50pm on Thursday, 2 April, 2026, we were made aware of the crash involving a van towing a trailer and a male pedestrian on Mart Street, near the junction of Duke Street.
Emergency services attended and the male pedestrian was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment.
The van, a purple Mercedes Vito with an axle trailer left the scene prior to police arrival and was later traced.
Inspector Thomas Mallinson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this crash and I am appealing for anyone who spoke to the male prior to the crash or witnessed the crash, and who has not already spoken to officers to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around the time and who may have dash cam footage which could assist to get in touch.”
