MAKE SURE YOUR VOTE COUNTS

Borderers are being asked to make sure that their vote counts in the upcoming General Election on Thursday 4 July. Returning Officer for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk County Constituency is David Robertson.

Mr Robertson said: “This election has been called with short notice period and therefore the deadlines for registering to vote and for new postal and proxy vote applications are not far away. There is also an impact on when postal vote packs are distributed, so people should ensure that if they will not be able to receive and return these in
time they should apply for a proxy vote instead.”

To vote you must be eligible and have applied to be registered by midnight on Tuesday 18 June. Register to vote online, if you haven’t already done so, at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by contacting the Electoral Registration Officer by calling 01835 825100.

The deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June. Applications can be made at https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote

The deadline for receiving new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June. Applications can be made at
